Ace Hardware rolls out digital shelf label technology

American hardware retailers' cooperative Ace Hardware has rolled out a new digital shelf label (DSL) platform across its stores.

Ace Hardware Corporation operates more than 5,000 stores around the world, with a total annual revenue of approximately $6.9 billion.

The new platform will allow the retailer to track, monitor, and manage digital price tags and IoT devices remotely, as well as update pricing at the store level in seconds.

The company said that the technology, developed by VusionGroup, aims to provide a more advanced experience for customers across its retail network, improve in-store customer service, and boost overall store performance.

The digitisation of its shelves also aims to enable Ace's managers and employees to respond more quickly and accurately to customer enquiries, dedicating more time to customer engagement.

Eric Webb, director of store systems and operations at Ace Hardware, said: "By automating pricing capabilities and the efficiencies gained with LED integration into our technology, we can maintain the high level of customer service our brand is known for, while simultaneously streamlining operations at every level."
